If your ticket is marked no court appearance required AND you have not attended a Traffic Safety School program in the last 12 months, you may be eligible to avoid a conviction on your driving record by receiving Court Supervision by mail and attending the Traffic Safety School Program. If you were enrolled in or have completed Traffic Safety School for a violation committed within the past twelve months you are not eligible to take the four hour course again.

THIS PROCEDURE DOES NOT APPLY TO CDL HOLDERS.

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 30, 2005-- SENATE BILL 1825;
IN ACCORDANCE WITH 49 C.F.R. PART 384, ALL REPORTS OF COURT SUPERVISION, EXCEPT VIOLATIONS RELATED TO PARKING SHALL BE FORWARDED TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR ALL HOLDERS OF A CDL (COMMERCIAL DRIVERS LICENSE). THESE REPORTS SHALL BE RECORDED TO THE DRIVER’S RECORD AS A CONVICTION FOR USE IN THE DISQUALIFICATION OF THE DRIVER’S COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE PRIVILEGES AND SHALL NOT BE PRIVILEGED INFORMATION.

EFFECTIVE JAN 1, 2008 THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO DRIVERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18

PA 95-310 prohibits drivers under 18 years of age from participating in the mail in process. Drivers under 18 years of age should plead not guilty and request a court date. Drivers under 18 years of age must have a parent present in Court before Court Supervision will be granted

Follow the instructions provided on the Traffic Safety school envelope given to you when the citation was issued. If you did not receive a Traffic Safety school envelope, you may complete and print out the form below.

If using the envelope:
Select Choice B and remit payment by check or money order Payable to the McLean County Circuit Clerk. Upon receipt of payment in full and your registration materials, including signature, the Clerk will forward the information to Heartland Community College. The Clerk will return your receipt, bond card/Drivers License (if posted) once your payment is processed. Enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope for the return of these items.

Total payment amount is $120.00 (non-refundable) unless the complaint is for speeding 21-30 mph over the speed limit. In that case, the amount is $140.00 (non-refundable)

The school will contact you by mail with a scheduled date and time for your attendance. Your request for a class day and time will be honored if possible. The McLean County Court will not accept the online program, you must attend a class. If you cannot attend your class, immediately call Traffic Safety School and reschedule. To reschedule without an additional fee, call no later than the date printed on your class assignment form. After that date, the reschedule fee is $25.00. If you miss your class and must reschedule, an additional fee of $25.00 is charged.

ATTENTION ALL TRAFFIC SCHOOL ATTENDEES: You are responsible for all fines, fees and costs associated with the attendance of Traffic Safety School.  EFFECTIVE for all orders for supervision involving Traffic Safety School entered on or after January 01, 2010, successful proof of completion of the traffic school program is required at least 30 days prior to the termination date of your court supervision.  Please be aware it is your responsibility to assure that the certificate of successful completion is sent to and received by Traffic Safety School, Heartland Community College, WDC 3100, 1500 W. Raab Rd., Normal, IL 61761. In the event that successful completion is not filed in a timely manner your supervision shall be summarily revoked and a conviction entered without further order of the court.
